About Fujifilm

Fujifilm is one of the world’s most established medical imaging manufacturers, with decades of leadership in digital radiography, MRI, ultrasound, and endoscopy. Their FDR D-EVO flat panel detector line is recognized globally for industry-defining innovations: the patented ISS (Irradiation Side Sampling) technology that bonds the optical sensors to the X-ray irradiation side for sharper images at lower dose; SmartSwitch automatic exposure detection that operates independently of any X-ray generator; Hydro AG antibacterial coating; and the latest D-EVO III series — the world’s lightest 17×17 detector at 1.8 kg, built on a flexible film-based TFT substrate that delivers 40% weight reduction vs. first-generation D-EVO panels and a 310 kg distributed load capacity. Fujifilm DR detectors are deployed across hospitals, imaging centers, urgent care, mobile imaging, orthopedic, sports medicine, and veterinary practices worldwide.

Why Choose Fujifilm?

  • ISS (Irradiation Side Sampling) — patented sensor placement for sharper images at lower dose
  • SmartSwitch — automatic X-ray detection without generator integration or special cables
  • Flexible film-based TFT (D-EVO III) — world’s lightest 17×17 detector at just 1.8 kg
  • Hydro AG· antibacterial surface coating
  • IPX6 fluid-resistance and IP5x dust-resistance ratings
  • 310 kg / 683 lb distributed surface load capacity (D-EVO III)
  • Built-in memory — stores up to 100 images on-panel for trauma and emergency workflows
  • Extra Sleep Mode — up to 36-48 hour standby battery life
  • Wireless 802.11ac dual-band (2.4 / 5 GHz) on current models
  • Same battery and accessories shared across the D-EVO III lineup
  • CsI scintillator (C-series) for low-dose imaging — GOS scintillator (G-series) for cost efficiency
  • Long-length G80i (17×32″) for full-spine and long-bone imaging

About Fujifilm Detectors

What is Fujifilm’s ISS (Irradiation Side Sampling) technology?
ISS bonds the optical sensors (TFT) to the X-ray irradiation side of the panel — the opposite of conventional flat panel detectors. This greatly reduces X-ray scattering and signal attenuation in the scintillator before the light reaches the sensors, producing sharper images at lower dose. ISS is patented to Fujifilm and is a defining feature of the D-EVO line.
What is the difference between the D-EVO II and D-EVO III?
D-EVO II uses a glass-based TFT substrate. D-EVO III replaces the glass with a flexible film-based TFT, making it 20-40% lighter than D-EVO II — the 17×17 G43i is just 1.8 kg / 4.0 lb. D-EVO III also adds Hydro AG antibacterial coating, a flat easy-clean shape, IPX6/IP5x sealing, 310 kg load capacity, and 802.11ac dual-band wireless.
What is SmartSwitch?
SmartSwitch is Fujifilm’s technology that allows the FDR detector to automatically detect X-ray exposure and begin image acquisition — with no electrical connection or generator integration required. This makes Fujifilm panels generator-agnostic and dramatically simplifies retrofitting existing X-ray rooms with DR.
What’s the difference between G-series and C-series Fujifilm panels?
G-series panels use GOS (Gadolinium oxysulfide) scintillator — lower cost, ideal for general radiography. C-series panels use CsI (Cesium iodide) scintillator — higher DQE and dose efficiency, ideal for low-dose imaging, pediatrics, and orthopedic detail. Both are available in 14×17 (35) and 17×17 (43) sizes; CsI is also available in 10×12 (24) for pediatrics and extremities.
What is the FDR D-EVO III G80i used for?
The G80i is a 17×32″ long-length detector designed for full-spine, long-bone, and orthopedic alignment imaging in a single exposure — eliminating image stitching for scoliosis exams, leg-length measurements, and standing weight-bearing studies.
Are Fujifilm panels suitable for veterinary use?
Yes. Fujifilm DR detectors are used in veterinary practices for small animal, equine, and large animal imaging — especially the 14×17 C35/C35i (CsI) for small animal, the 17×17 C43/C43i for large animal full-coverage, and the 10×12 C24/C24i for extremity and avian imaging.
